Joan Rivers admits to having had over 700 plastic surgery operations
We LOVE Joan Rivers – she’s one of the original fast-talking dames and an inspiration for contemporary female comics – showing them that it is possible to succeed in an industry dominated mainly by men.
She also has a formidable work ethic and throughout her career she has performed countless stand-up shows with the world’s best comedians, written ten books, appeared in two dozen films, written and directed a play about her life, and starred in and produced a number of reality TV shows.
Her lust for labor hasn’t eased off as she has gotten older. This is evident by the fact that she is still working hard today at the age of 78. She may BE old, but Rivers is doing everything in her power to resist LOOKING old.
Rivers has admitted to having had over 700 plastic surgery operations.
Rivers admitted recently that she has gone under the knife 739 times. “Every weekend I just go in and I do something new. I get a 10th one free. It’s a little like coffee you just keep going,” she said.
Joan’s daughter Melissa isn’t too happy about her mother’s behavior. “At one point I start to think the risk outweighs the reward, so I wanted my mom to know how I felt about it and I think I made myself fairly clear,” she said. But it was when Melissa and herĀ friends were trying to talk Joan out of a procedure that she managed to sway them otherwise.
“They all said, ‘You shouldn’t do it, you shouldn’t do it.’ And I said, ‘What if I pay for everybody in this room? What would you do?’ Every single person (accepted),” mischevious Joan explained.
“Every weekend I just go in and I do something new. I get a 10th one free.” says Rivers.
Rivers has been famously open about her opinions on plastic surgery – she has written books on the topic and she opened up on the issue during the 2010 documentary about her life Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work. In the film (trailer below), which is a candid glance into the world of an aging star trying to keep working in the world of youth-obsessed showbusiness, Rivers draws attention to the fact that we live in a world hung up on youthful appearance – she says; “age – it’s the one mountain you can’t overcome”.
Would you get plastic surgery if Joan Rivers offered to pay for it?
