Lana del Rey's pretty in pink 'Vogue' UK cover
American singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey has snagged the cover of Vogue UK’s March 2012 issue. This isn’t that much of a surprise as the American singer has been cropping up everywhere recently and, perhaps more significantly, in January 2012, she was signed to NEXT model management.
Singer was signed to NEXT model management in January.
What IS surprising, however, is the tone of the cover shoot. It is tooth-achingly sweet with Lana appearing in a pastel Louis Vuitton dress in the midst of pretty pink subtitles like “Oh so pretty!” and “Treat yourself Princess dresses and silver shoes“.
This is not what we would expect from Rey – who is known for her smouldering, sensual look and who describes herself as a “self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra”.
On the cover, Rey’s long red locks flow wholesomely over her shoulders and the only hints to her edgier side lie in her three-finger ring and razor-sharp red-tipped talon-like nails.
The cover channels a distinct Bree Van de Kamp look.
The cover was shot by none-other-than Mario Testino (of course!) and the Video Games singer played up her dreamy, steamy, borderline vacant look for the shoot. Front and center are her signature bee-stung lips. We can’t help but compare this look to Bree Van de Kamp from Desperate Housewives – pretty, perfect, but without the strained manic look.
What do you think of the cover? Is Lana del Rey fashion’s new It girl?
